MARGARET UNDERWOOD is a Tomatis® Practitioner Level 1. She has a Bachelor of Arts with a double major in Philosophy and Religious Studies, a Post Graduate Diploma of Accounting and a Post Graduate Diploma in Teaching (Secondary).
With a dance background and having practiced and taught Tai Chi Chuan since her early twenties, she has a keen interest in how integrated movement, as well as nutrition, can enhance learning and health. She has been fascinated by how people learn since she was a child. Her desire to help people access and develop their full potential has led her to many different fields of study. Margaret has a gift of being able to integrate knowledge and experience from a wide range of disciplines to benefit her students when she is teaching or doing sessions.
Margaret is an Educational Kinesiologist and Learning Styles Instructor (Dunn and Dunn model). She has studied primitive reflex integration methods, nutrition, and tools for natural vision improvement. Since the early 1990s Margaret has worked in several countries training teachers and business people in the implementation of the Dunn and Dunn Learning Styles Model and the use of Brain Gym ® and movement to enhance learning in classrooms as well as workplace harmony and productivity. She has worked in pre-schools, primary, secondary and tertiary institutions, including universities, as well as city government and business environments.
In addition to training teachers and business people, Margaret does one on one Balance sessions with people with a wide range of challenges in their lives, anything from learning to health to creative endeavours, work issues and more. She has worked with all ages, from babies through to the very elderly.
A Reiki Master/Practitioner, Jin Shin Jyutsu Practitioner, Raw Food Teacher/Coach, Flower Essence Practitioner, Labyrinth Facilitator, Margaret is also a long term meditator.
She first came across Dr Tomatis’ work in 1993 when she was studying for a year with Jean Houston in the USA. It has been a dream of hers to do the Tomatis® training since then and she was thrilled to discover the method had reached New Zealand. She is very excited to work with children and adults, in the classroom and the wider community, to help them access more of their potential as human beings and is convinced the Tomatis® Method is a powerful tool to support that.
Margaret is based in New Plymouth but she loves to travel.
